Universal Design for Learning
Universal Design for Learning is one of those concepts that just makes sense. As a student teacher I was fortunate to work with students of varying abilities; including classes geared towards students at both ends of the ability spectrum. This led me to become passionate about differentiation. When I became a teacher I tried to implement differentiation of pace, product and process as often as possible in my classes. However, I was only just beginning to understand variability in students and how as teachers we have the ability to create a learning community accessible to all students.
For this task I decided to create a Prezi because I believe Prezi is a presentation tool that can really capture students' attention, while utilizing some of the processes involved in UDL.
When viewing the Prezi, please click on the play arrow. After I made this presentation I realized one limitation of Prezi: I could not change the length of time spent on each slide, unlike Powerpoint. Please make sure to pause the presentation on slides with extensive writing.

Prior to beginning the SETS program I did an Masters in Education Technology. I became quite interested in UDL during this degree and used it to frame much of my thinking. One such project was the blog I created: "An e-Learning Vision of Social Studies." I chose to link these two projects because UDL framed my thinking and design for both. Unfortunately, some of the Web 2.0 tools I used in 2013 are no longer available to be viewed, however the UDL framework is still evident.
