Clicker 6
Not only is there an "intelligent word predictor" (Crick Software, 2015), the program also reads the words out loud as students type them. For students with dyslexia, any word/sentence formation challenges, reading difficulties, or communication needs, as well as ESL students, the read aloud capabilities would drastically change their achievement levels. Combine the communication capabilities with the visuals, and students on the Autism spectrum would also find this program engaging and helpful.
One of the interesting capabilities of this program is to change the literacy levels of the text, thereby easily differentiating texts for students. To learn a bit more on how to use Clicker 6, watch this informative video below made by a Speech Pathologist from Spectronics Inclusive Learning Technologies. |
Clicker 6 is a piece of assistive technology that all students can benefit from. It affords for personalization of learning, enabling all students to write. One of the greatest benefits for students is the independence they will gain by using Clicker 6. Teachers and students are able to choose from pre-made writing templates to best meet their needs. This will save time and frustration on the part of all stakeholders. I could easily see this program becoming part of my classroom.
